There is no poverty in Australia.
If one uses a meaningless definition (such as poverty being an income of less half the median), then one can argue that there is poverty. But meaningless definitions can be used to argue anything.
By any meaningful or objective measure, there is no poverty in Australia. Just because someone doesn't have enough money to buy food does not mean they are poor. If someone receives $10,000 a week, spends it on alcohol and drugs, and doesn't have enough left over for food, they are not poor - it's just choice. Poverty is not having enough money for food. Choosing to buy things other than food with your money is just choice.
Children who don't get enough to eat because their parents spend their welfare on other things are not poor. They are victims of child abuse.
There is no poverty in Australia.
