Acts of harming one's self designed to attract attention.
An increasingly popular past-time for protest groups (like asylum seekers) in Australia. This disturbing
behavior is one of two things
- indicative of a violent and mentally unstable nature.
- indicative of a violent, but rational and
carefully calculated nature - designed convince others of the rightfulness of
their' cause.
Neither of which are convincing arguments for caving into any demands from these people.
