This is a term popular with leftists and its use expresses the view that people are slaves of the rich and powerful even though they are voluntarily choosing to sell their labor to that person. The people who use this term apparently believe that the only real freedom is the freedom to force others supply you with food, shelter and entertainment and to give nothing in return.

People who use this term are either making a joke, or they are communists.
