Techno, house, trance, acid, jungle, drum and bass, ambient, happy hardcore, gabber, etc and all the variations of these variations... the proliferation of electronic dance music genres resemble political affiliations - overlapping, evolving in meaning, reverting, dependent on assumptions and experience. ChrisV's definition of 'techno' could easily describe 'minimal house', for example. I wouldn't worry too much about exactitude, the differences are usually miniscule - and then there's fusion of styles. Who cares? It's all electronica. Strawman, it's not the stoners who suck lollypops, that's the amphetamines causing clenched jaws. Besides, pot is for coming down the next day, not for the rave.
