The civil liberty I was talking about was the one to freely associate and free speech. That paticular idea that mememe wants from the US is a bad idea. Our statist politicians would get the image they do not want to control our lives. Anyway, I don't think legitimate terrorists would be concerned about lying on immigration papers. The only thing that would happen is that some immigrants lives would be looked into more deeply. Since only people with nothing to hide would declare anything, it would be a waste of time. Sounds like a throwback to the Mc Carthyist era. I do not like statism, fanaticism, but installing a system that encourages people to change arbitrarily without debate, discussion or reason is a step closer to ending those two important civil rights. The right of search is not a restriction of or trade off of civil liberties, as it is there to catch murderers, theives and so on and protect your civil and property rights. It is partof your civil liberties. The same cannot be said for such a badly designed immigration policy. Come on strawman, you know that we should have a right to bear arms. Detonating a nuclear device is not an act of self defense. Why you should be stopped from (privately) building them and exporting them to (your nation's) allies I couldn't justify. Nevertheless, I would prefer if an Australian industrialist started mass producing MDS technology.
