If people must use computers, I would encourage them to build them themselves. From scratch, mind, mining the metals, casting the plastic, etching the silicon chips... And if they must drive cars, I would encourage them to build them themselves... Ever heard of the industrial revolution? All that specialisation and mass production and stuff. Happened first with agriculture, which created the economic surplus to build civilisation. If everyone had to gather all their own food every day, I don't think we'd have much of a society.

Personally I do slaughter my own meat, not for moral reasons, but because it tastes better and is cheaper. As a farmer, that's an easy option for me. But while I produce someone else's meat, they can make me a computer. Don't eat meat if you don't want, but don't impose those values on everybody else...
