I think one point that Terje was getting at was the free flow of migrants would ensure the collapse of the welfare state. Subsequently, people concerned with the maintainence of the welfare state worry about too many migrants (note the Green & Democrat immigration policy) while those who oppose welfare might prefer to make social democracy unsustainable.
