Some comments on this thread seem to suppose that women get pregnant of their own accord - probably JJ's influence in peddling biblical parables such as the virgin birth" There was nothing "accidental" about Jesus' birth; He was deliberately sent here by God to die for our sins, and calling this a "parrable" is to betray the historical reality of Jesus and the sacrifice He made. It is of course a Hollywood Production with a catholic slant, but I would advise that you at least get Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ - which is generally based very closely on the historical accounts - out on video and view it, and appreciate what Jesus went through, before making such flippant comments. Leaving that aside, I can actually agree with some of your other comments. The Governor-General made some good points about this too; the epidemic in abortion is an outcome of the permissiveness that has spread since the 1960s, and rectifying it requires more than passing laws against abortion per se; it also needs a return to morality and responsibility - by males often as much as by young girls - which in turn will require initiatives such as restrictions on media content and moral leadership from politicians and community-leaders alike.
