>> Strawman was that really you writing this article? Government intervention in
>> education and other service, rather then letting the free market run free?
>> Shouldn't market forces determine how we pay for our goods and services? >> Doesn't it go against your idealogies? Or can't I detect Sarcasm Sarcastic? Me? :) Yes, it was sarcastic. I have been reading David Friedman's excellent book
"The Machinery of Freedom", and he points out how most government subsidization
actually helps the 'not poor', under the guise of helping the poor. I indend to write more about the book later, but I just like reminding
people that welfare ain't about helping the poor. As much as I hate the Left, when they moan about middle-class and corporate welfare I
just have to grit my teeth and agree with them. Interestingly, on first read of your comment I thought you were referring
to the article's title about government buying votes -
ie - the Liberal government is using the GDP of this country to buy votes on
the free market, and
offering the best value-per-vote available. This is a classic lefty/collectivist view, and is
quite logical for those who think that 51% of the people have the right to
control the other 49%, winner take all. They fail to see that there ain't
nothing free about it. .. but I'll write more about that later too. Thanks for reading.
