Further to my proposition that we could apply a principle that you only commit a crime if you actually deny someone their property or their person, this could mean that: -dealing in stolen property would not be a crime - after all, you didn't steal it (and you may not even know that it was stolen - and how costly would it be if you had to establish the credentials of a product before you entered into a transaction). -buying and watching kiddy porn or snuff films would not be a crime - after all, you didn't act in the film (and you may not even know that the actor was underage, or actually died in the shooting of the film).
