Strawman, I must say I never thought of this matter in such a way. I suppose it is logical though, isn't it? Saying that a hunger strike has gone on for several weeks is a tad misleading, if people can't live that long without food. Isn't our ABC wonderful? Derrida, it is important to keep in mind that an asylum-seeker who starves themselves is dying of their own free will. Whilst unfortunate, it is not something that can be avoided when people behave unreasonably. Clearly, if Strawman is right, you don't have to concern yourself with that possibility anyway, as the whole thing is a show for the cameras (and the lefties). Furthermore, running an immigration programme on the basis of "charity" strikes me as being a lot like government welfare programmes run on the basis of tax levied through force. We're libertarians here. We don't particularly like government "charity". Lastly, if you say you don't want to open the "floodgates" which, incidentally, doesn't mean you will actually get a flood of alleged Hazara Afghans who seem to live in Pakistan, what is you proposal? If you don't like detention, what is your alternative? Adam P.S What is this "statelessness" I'm hearing so much about? Sounds divine to me! Maybe you should stick to the "refugee" or "asylum-seeker" expressions.
