Please forgive my lack of clarity, I clearly overestimated the analytical
ability of some readers of this forum. The point is not whether
Australia's actions are (or are not) illegal. The point is that people will not vote for someone who is telling them
they have collective guilt for actions of their soldiers. Given the choice:
- Prime Minister John Howard can just argue that we did nothing wrong, and there
is no liability.
- Prime Minister Simon Crean has to argue that we did the wrong thing, and we are
criminals, but we can't be prosecuted.
Which one do you think that Australians will vote for? This is not a trick question. Even the peace protesters should be able to
work this one out with only a few minutes of thought.
