Yes, I missed the point of your analogy. I'll think on it further.

But I can answer the case of Tex. Kidnapping JJ would be a violation of JJ's rights. Pulling the plug would be a merciful (heavenly?) release, but would increase the resultant damage (done to JJ) from that violation.

So it would be murder. But it would still be utility maximizing.
