The Oz reports today that Howard has responded by saying he plans to not only axe ATSIC, but end indigenous self-management altogether. I'm not really sure why everyone is giving Latham accolades over this, if you read the rest of the story it's pretty clear he plans to simply create another ATSIC in its place. Even to those like myself who have some sympathy with leftist social policy, it should be obvious that indigenous self-management is an expensive disaster.
