I saw something on TV recently, so it must be true. Somebody took out too much debt and couldn't pay it off. The TV was sympathetic, I thought she was just pathetic. If you can't afford the repayments - then don't get into debt. Stupid, stupid decisions - everywhere. I know it's only anicdotal, but I've met so many people who are poor because they make bad decisions. A friend spends $50 a week on cigarettes and drives a $20,000 car, but always borrows money off friends for food. If they refuse, then the poor friend cries poor and accuses the richer person of greed and carelessness. These people seem to honestly believe that they have no responsibility for making good financial decisions. Just buy what you want - and when the money runs out, then complain and blame other people. I will never need welfare. I know this not because I know I will always be lucky or always have the job I want. I know this because I will not let it happen. But you are correct in one regard... the labour market regulations and minimum wage laws do restrict the number of jobs in the economy - and they should be removed.
