Hi Catherine,

Um .. I think the English had more influence on the Aboriginals than the Aboriginals had on the English.

Aboriginal culture hasn't really affected modern Australia very much (apart from the Luvvies gasping approvingly at paintings with lots of dots). On the other hand, traditional Aboriginal culture is now pretty much non existant.

As for the the pre-European history, there really isn't much to say about the Aborigines before the Europeans arrived. They had spent around 40,000 years killing the local fauna and flora, killing each other, and finger painting on the walls. We don't know much more than that because they hadn't developed the ability to read and write.

Some of the English were convicts, some were free settlers.

Are we talking about the same article I said that both cultures (Aboriginal and European) were based on force and exploitation.

Most rational and objective people would say that was being pretty even-handed.

Apparently rationality and objectivity are to be discouraged where the Australian Aborigines are concerned. Who'd have thought?

Anyway, I am always willing to listen to constructive feedback. Now let me give you some: learn to use the Shift key. It will make your writing easier to understand.

Thanks for reading.
