I think you're dead wrong. A terrorist attack on Australian soil would not only return Howard with a massive majority, but would see riots and mayhem on the streets, with anyone foreign looking as a target. This isn't Europe... the success of Hanson and the Howard government's refugee policy shows that "tolerance" in Australia is a lot more accurate than elsewhere. An attack by Islamic forces here would really test that tolerance.
