Now Comrade, The only smart thing to come out of the summit was an admission of failure
by some of the less dishonest delegates. Apparently the Left think that the hard-working democracies have an obligation
to feed the starving (or at least hungry) masses in Africa, and yet Africa is
a food exporter? If this is the case, then they don't need food. They can just keep it and use
it to feed their masses. We have US grain donations which cannot be released
to the hungry masses because it's Genetically Modified and yet Africa is a
net food exporter? I appreciate what you say about the modern age consumption and production
being decoupled in a modern economy, but this staggers
belief. Lowering the price of food does not make hungry people victims. It makes rich food
producers worse off and that is all. Further, it is not up to the UN to dictate subsidization policy to
the US, (or to any other
country). Hopefully the US will eventually realize their policy is stupid and
self destructive, and abandon it. But until they do - it's their choice - or at least the
choice of the 51% of Americans who don't know any better. The idea that the corrupt dictatorial member states
of the UN make more sound economic decisions than the richest country on earth is a
bit comical. But, as they say, even a fool is now and then right by chance.
