Jamie: So what exactly does a rationally derived system of ethics on a personal level have to say to those who reject it, for whatever reason? We know what Sharia says. We know what the Bible says. I don't know what Sharia says — I've only read the Koran, not the Sunnah or the writings of the imams (or whoever it was came up with Sharia). Mainstream interpretation of the Bible is tolerance of non-believers. My own view of libertarian ethics is also tolerance toward non-adherents. However, in practice that would be tempered by my not going into contract with a contract breaker which would probably include a lot of folks that have an entitlement-mentality, and I'm happy to use forceful self-defence against the violent.
