For moderate muslims there is nothing to deter, they were not going to resort to violence anyway. For extremists death holds no fear. For the borderline cases it will deter some from violence and anger others into it. The relative numbers of each would seem to be murky. Regardless, he's a mass murderer. Give him his appeal
