"For my mind, it is hypocritcal to oppose bad treatment of animals while being a meat-eater." Therefore: meat-eating = animal cruelty. I hadn't picked 24601 as one of the "Meat Is Murder" crowd. I think his corollory is as dumb as the sheep in question. I'm not conferring political rights to animals (although they would boost the donkey vote), I'm inferring responsibilities for humans. Animals can be as vicious and callous to each other as they like, with a David Attenborough narration on top for all I care. I expect better of people with animals in their charge. We breed animals to kill and eat - and yummy they are. It doesn't mean that we should cause them to suffer unnecessarily. I'm confident that the standards of local slaughterhouses are better than those experienced during most stages of the live export game in this respect. "If someone ignores that right but insists on others, then I suggest they are partaking in an intentional act of backward reasoning to reach a convenient conclusion." Therefore: if I think it's wrong to kick the dog, then I should support dog suffragettism, dog rights to IVF in lesbian relationships, etc.. Because I don't believe the rest, it's fine to boot Fido until he's a bleeding pulp. See you on the other side of the wheat silo poochy! I hope 24601 survives his inconvenient conclusion - a result of pretending that none of this is a problem.
