are many options open to those who choose a social lifestyle. But neighbors of
Vira Lascotte told the media that she led a very quiet, solitary existance. Some old people choose to sell their homes and live in 'retirement
villages' and play shuffleboard and bridge all day - party animals to the
end. Others choose to keep their homes - and their privacy. People are not victims of their own choices. When I get old (if I live to be old) I don't know what path I will choose.
I might well be lonely in my old age, but the thought of rotting for six months
doesn't bother me in the least - why would it? The only disturbing thing about
it is that my kids would have to do without any inheritance for six extra
months, but if they didn't notice their Dad was dead for that long, then maybe
I would be less concerned about it. Either way, I'm not losing sleep over it.
