"There is a free market of countries." I generally agree with you, t, but not on this point. For a free market to work there must be some form of bankruptcy process (either law or reputation) that eliminates bad ideas. At present, the only such process that exists for states is war, which is going to remain a sad feature of the world order until it is replaced in this function. Can a market be "free" if the bloodiest forms of violence are an essential part of its operation?
