People who oppose the war are not prepared to deal with the most important fact (from a humanitarian view) that millions of Iraqis will continue to suffer under Saddam and that the protestors are not speaking on behalf of the Iraqi people, but rather on behalf of Saddams regime.

oh - I'm not prepared to deal with that eh? maybe you're new around here but I think it's fair to say that I've dealt with every pro-war argument put forward. Some would say I haven't done so convincingly - but nobody would say I haven't understood the point and put up some sort of argument against it.

I'm not speaking on behalf of Saddam or the Iraqi people. Simply myself. I believe that you should not pursue a multi-billion dollar government program unless it might actually bring a benefit to the taxpayers. This sort of thinking scares some people... and so they just assume I'm actually a Baathist supporter to help them sleep at night.

As for the humanitarian bit - maybe true. I say maybe because we don't know what the humanitarian consequence of the war is going to be, nor do we know the humanitarian consequence of having Saddam in power without sanctions. What I do know is that I don't believe my money should be used to fly people around the world to install regimes with better domestic policy.

If philanthropy is your goal - then go start a private charity. Just take your hands out of my pocket while you're doing it.
