There is a death rate - I assume that 1/80 of both
populations die each year (80 is the life expectancy). No, the populations are not banded and it doesn't take into account the 'aging population'. Banding is complicated because one also has to band the birth rates. As for fertility rate of 5.0 - Sudan has a figure of
4.85, Somalia has 6.85. Many of these don't survive, but in Australia they
would. 5.0 could be viewed as conservative.
