Guns - where they can be used as self defense. No one is going to attack you requiring a helicopter gunship to retaliate, WMD cannot be used in self defense etc. The common law rule whatever is reasonable to defend yourself is quite sensible and just. As for the "vulnerable" women. I don't beleive anyone is genuinely stupid. Some have mental defect, others are lazy, others don't get given the same opportunity or simply specialise in non academic things. This practice is only "bad" because it looks bizarre.
