Quite telling that it is an institution founded by an American Muslim in the United States of America. Why hasn't something like this ever surfaced in the regions where Islam has been the clear majority and Islamic culture has reigned?

The American culture is the influence here, and its hunger for excellence and competitive pursuit of winning has influenced muslims I admire like Muhammad Ali and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, so if the pursuit of educating Islam about Western culture and society is the goal, I do wish them luck. But, the base of Islamic authority in the muslim world, I don't think they'll ever accept it. Because the values and ethics of the Western World - the openness, the tolerance, the seemingly love thy neighbour, and all that springs from this, especially the social freedoms that muslims tend to dislike the most - are derived from the values and ethics of Christianity. I mean, social freedoms are the highest in Western Europe and America, with the US being the highest, and societies where none of the monotheistic faiths historically held any ground, like China and Japan, these nations are far more socially conservative. In Western Europe, Christian values and ethics still wield tremendous influence in all of Europe's institutions and civic society, just like how the corruption and power-broking of the Soviet Union has and will continue to influence Russia's future.
