That strikes me as rather silly reasoning. Are you suggesting that we can be absolved of guilt because nasty Boers were, well, nastier to other blacks in Africa? Aside from the fact that Australia was fairly hostile and discriminatory towards its blacks up until the '60s anyway, justifying bad behaviour by pointing at worse behaviour convinces no-one. I agree that the modern white-guilt mentality and the asphyxiating altruism towards indigenous people it has created, peddled by pollies and enforced by unthinking, culturally self-hating media cheerleaders, is counter-productive. However, the fact that the Dutch may have been worse to the natives of their colonies is hardly the reason why! Adam
