The low quality of asylum seekers is due to the welfare system. To this I say, look at the high rates of refugee acceptance. Democracy doesn;'t work, even in a good electoral system. What we are seeing witht he tax/welfare system has two sides - brain drain. You worked in the US, and I have seriously considered it. Cut taxes and regualtion, and you can expect to see some "quality" immigration. You should be more ambitious in removing democracy and replacing it with democratic republicanism. Finally, what is the differenc between theft and legalised plunder? I will admit I am too keen on what SHOULD be as opposed to what is. Also, saying that the coalition vote equated to support was silly, after all, Keating started it in 1994. Finally, our democratic system means that in 50.1% of electors in 50.1% of electorates find a coalition of political parties the least undesireable, they have constitutional carte blanche to tell us how to live (except for a state religion).
