What scares me now is the size of fire service they will try to build up to protect the "bush capital". On the logic that Canberrans usually get what they want when it's money from the public purse, I can imagine the fire fighting system that will be built up to defeat the next "0ne in one hundred years" event. You shouldn't piss all over people who've just had their houses burned down, but life is also full of risks, and some of 'em you just ain't gonna protect yourself against - unless of course someone else is paying. (I live in a town that is surrounded by levees and gets flooded every 3 or 4 years).
