I think your riot scenario is basically correct, but that doesn't detract
from my argument. Don't assume the rednecks firebombing mosques in western
Sydney would be the people changing their vote. The differences between the parties on immigration and border protection
policies between the major parties are mostly cosmetic. We all know which party
introduced mandatory detention for children, and we know which party is calling
for 'greater border protection through a coast guard'. The main policy
difference is the decision to join the war. For the ALP to win after a pre-election terrorist attack, they would
only have to sell one slogan and one slogan only. |

That would be a pretty easy sell. It would just be a matter of retraining
the sheep in the ALP
backbenches from their current Four legs good, two legs baaaaad!. People feel the need to cower before a greater force. That's why they
believe in bigger and bigger government.
