Funny thing is that even though they are geographically in North America, they are culturally (and financially) in South America. Mexicans live in poverty, while USA citizens live in prosperity just over the border.

Leftists try to blame this on

• the difference in climate (the climate in Canada is more inhospitable than Mexico)
• the deliberate policy of the US in keeping their neighbors poor (but they don't do that to Canada)
• their lack of democracy (actually by international standards it's pretty good)
• their lack of education (the USA was pretty uneducated a few generations ago too, but they got out of it)

The reason the Mexicans are poor is because of their levels of corruption, and the fact that they have pursued non-capitalist economic policies. The Latino culture of macho-ism doesn't help much either.
