Being able to sell the same thing for contradictory uses is a convenient strategy. Selling the same sized coats to different sized people and assuring them 'the sleeves will ride down with wear' and 'the sleeves will ride up with wear' might sell more coats, but it is hardly ethical.

At the start of the 21st century, the ALP was accusing the governing Liberal Party of 'wedge politics', which was 'splitting the community' and 'causing disharmony'. In fact, the government was opening debates which the left had managed to stifle for the previous two decades by accusing anyone of ignorance, stupidity, sexism, racism and xenophobia who tried to promote informed debate on the issues.

By raising awareness of issues like immigration levels, asylum seeker policies and education strategies people took a hard look at the leftist political offerings, and many turned to the conservatives out of disgust.
