D: The day that about 20 fundamentalist Muslim extremists motivated by envy of US success, and frustrations at US support of Israel, hijacked some passenger planes in the US and flew them into densely populated buildings.

The casualties of the day were Political Correctness, cultural relativism, the popular misbelief in the fundamental goodness of all people, and some 3000 unsuspecting humans (plus many Afghan civilian casualties).

It was also the day when CNN started telling Americans what they had never been interested in - that the US support of Israel had made the US very unpopular with many Israel's Islamic enemies in the Middle East.
