Forgive me for reaching such an obvious conclusion. If you have lived there and worked there, yet find that things are "close in time" there, it seems to me a very bizarre judgement. It used to take me 45 minutes to go around 2.5 miles from North First Street to 880 on 237 -- and there were no better alternative routes. If you lived in Silicon Valley, it was either a very long time ago, or you were heavily sedated (or perhaps, both).

I question the >wisdom of their doing so, bit it is their choice. The fact >remains that this is one of the few 'cities' in the world >where this would be feasible.

How very pedantic of you to suggest that prefacing the name "Silicon Valley" with the word "the" is somehow incorrect. But aside from being pedantic, it's simply wrong. I grew up a stone's throw from THE Silicon Valley, so I think I'm better positioned than you to make a judgement on that issue. But that appears to be the case with many of our discussions.

At any rate, the long commutes I'm talking about aren't just those involving people coming from outside the area -- simply getting from the south side of the Valley to the north side takes a ridiculously long time.

You seem mostly interested in adhering to dogma.
