"Marriage" is (or at least should be) a private contract between two people. The main areas it covers are sexual fidelity, children and property, all of which are tied in together, at least historically. Man with a contract is responsible for supporting his children concieved within the contract. Man without is not. Fortunately, we have contraception and abortion to deal with an unwanted/unsupportable child. No need for Family Law, Child support legislation and all. No more problem. And I'd argue the cost of children, and the ability to avoid them now, is the complete cause of a declining birth rate. Rational consumers acting in their own best interests. Why is this a problem?
