Does your intellectual dishonesty know no bounds? The murder=manslaughter argument was wrong, and was pointed out as such at the time. There is more difference between murder and manslaughter than who is commiting the act. Further, I gave you a definition of theft that made sense (from the Macquarie Dictionary). You seem to have forgotten, so I'll provide it again: "the act of stealing; the wrongful taking and carrying away of the personal goods of another" - where steal is defined as "to take or take away dishonestly or wrongfully, especially secretly -- to appropriate (ideas, credit, words, etc.) without right or acknoledgement" At a minimum I can say that you're just trying to be annoying. Otherwise the assumption must just be that you're a bit slow. On to the abstract concept of a "social contract"... there is no option of living in Australia without paying tax. There is an institution that says if we don't pay it - we will be locked up. No court in this country recognises a "social contract" between me and the government. What they recognise is a law, passed by government, which says they are allowed to take my money. If I refuse to pay and am jailed - it is not because of breach of contract. If I had ownership of something, and then lost ownership, it can only be because of two reasons. Either I voluntarily gave up ownership, or it was taken from me. I have not volunteered my money to the government. Nor have I (and I think this is your argument) volunteered control to legislate anything about me to the government. You seem to argue that by being alive, I have implicitly agreed to give total control of my life to the government. It can create any rule it likes (manditory rape?) and I have already agreed by virtue of my non-suicide. It probably goes without saying that I disagree with this modern day version of slavery. btw - when you say "our society" I presume you mean "the institution called government". I would argue that these two things shouldn't be confused. As for your pointless last para - I believe I was talking about why I pay tax. The only reason I pay tax is to avoid jail. This is a fact. And obvious. And again, you're the only one who didn't get it. As a side point to the webmaster - I vote (if it's possible) that we ban the dick from this webpage. His contributions have long past the point of being interesting.
