But the more important point is that the US doesn't actually recognise the imprisoned as POWs anyway. So the point about when POWs should be released is moot. As for the US using a legal procedure... this is only true by virtue of the fact that they called it legal. By the same rationale, Saddam used legal procedures to kill and torture people. Maybe we should hold government to the rule of law... not just to any old law?
