system. Let's look at what I actually wrote shall we?
In spite of this revelation, the chief judge in Corby's trial was quoted in
today's Telegraph as saying that he couldn't take into account events which
happened in Australia. In other words it was irrelevant under Indonesian law
whether it was packed by Corby, or placed there by a baggage handler?
I am aware than heresay is irrelevant, but the Judge wasn't quoted for saying
that. He was quoted as saying he "couldn't take into account events which
happened in Australia"**. I have a Chinese friend who was told as a child that there were no
countries outside China - that China was the only country in the world.
Maybe Indonesian Judges are told the same thing about Indonesia. Therefore
any events which happened in Australia would automatically be heresay
because Australia was only rumored to exist. .. well, we are dealing with the justice system in the second most corrupt
country in the world.
I think the original quote was in the Telegraph, but I don't have the link. I
just read in the coffee shop over my morning latte. I'm not making claims as
to the correctness of that quote - just claiming that the Telegraph did run it.
