Most blackouts are mercifully brief, so this is actually the first time the UPS has not survived. The server is a
fanless-CPU-low-power-high-efficiency machine (enough to make most greenies wet themselves with envy), and it's also jet-black. But I recently plugged the 3GHz pentium-4 greenhouse-emitting-nuclear-powerstation-required development machine into
it, so I guess it's no surprise that it wouldn't survive an extended outage. I may just get a surge protector for the P4, and keep the
UPS for the server if the blackouts become common. Sorry for the inconvenience.
