Don't know about Sydney, but here in the bush no-one seems to have a problem talking about it. Seems everywhere I go, the topic swings to ethnic violence in Sydney and proposed solutions to it, most of which involve rounding up the offending population group en masse and sending them back to where they originally came from. Though one bloke yesterday reckoned they should be pushed into their mosque at Lakemba and it be set on fire. He went on to suggest the fire could be fueled with cartoons, which was funny if nothing else. Lets just say I wouldn't like to be an openly identifying muslim turning up knocking on doors out this way in a jehovahs witness fashion, or even just lost and looking for directions. They might well find themselves buried in the garden next to all those guns the Government bought back recently. Then again this area delivered a 20% vote for One Nation back when it was at it's height, when there was no real race trouble to speak of, so how they would vote with real fuel for their zenophobic fires is anyone's guess. The area is almost entirely anglo-celtic, the odd aboriginee and a scattering of 'balts' who were working on the Snowy scheme and forgot to move on. It hasn't had much to do with the whole multi-cultural thing, and as far as they are concerned, it can stay that way.
