On a more relevant note, what does everyone think about space exploration, assuming that Australia was in the business? Should it be state run or private? One could make the argument that it is a logical extension of the military, and necessary to protect us from asteroids and space invaders. Maybe in the future, our defence will have four branches: army, navy, air force & space force. 100% private. I don't think the Kingons or the Borg are going to be threatening us anytime soon. A nice little nuclear deterent would be a good way to prevent any Earth bound assailants from getting any great designs on us, as well as nice, open free trade. Most authoritarian regimes would rather buy our resources than invade us for them and we luckily have no historical territorial disputes of any great significance (ie. no West Timor Australians or Northern Territorian Indonesians) which cause most warfare.
