People would waste time if they had to read and absorb the entirety of an article/blog in order to find out that it was bad writing. To try to get around this, they have tests for good writing that take less time than reading and absorbing the entire article/blog, although they are less accurate. e.g.
1. Poor spelling suggests a lack of review and a lack of consideration for the audience (because a reader grasps correctly spelt words quicker than incorrectly spelt words), both of which suggest poor writing. 2. Length, which suggests a lack of penetration. 3. Lack of visible structure (e.g. paragraphs), which suggest a lack of a logical argument (distinct premises). 4. Author/Source/etc.: if they wrote well before, they are more likely to be writing well now. (n.b. strawman should therefore take my reading of his blog as a compliment!)
