>> What's the difference between the causes of leftist behavior and the causes
>> of statist behavior generally? Hmm .. I don't think the difference is really one of ideology, but
implementation. Leftism is a subset of statism. The conservative statist understands both trickledown and incentive. She knows
that a political system which embraces the notion of private property results
in more efficient use of the resources. She knows that a system which rewards
hard work and ingenuity results in greater wealth, and she understands that
even poor people eventually benefit from having wealthy people to trade with,
and everyone benefits. The leftist mindset rejects private property and incentive schemes because they
know in such a system they will be at the bottom. Without affirmative action,
most feminists would starve. But, at the end of the day, the statist does not believe in personal freedom.
She does not accept that people have a fundamental right to ownership of their
own bodies (and the wealth those bodies create). She regards someone's body as
a State owned resource which The State should allow the individual to use
because to do so is in the interests of The State. The Leftist believes that all things belong to The State. The Statist believes
that all things belong to the state, but that things should be 'administered'
by the individual when it is the state's interest. Neither believe in the fundamental rights of the individual.
