I wasn't voicing any opinion about the issue of bias in the ABC. I was just taking issue with the statement that news programs just like the ones on the ABC (that is, in depth news and current affairs programs) would appear naturally in a free market. I don't think just opening up the market leads inevitably to a range of opinions. Otherwise why would the big boys of media (Packer, Murdoch) be strongly in favour of the relaxation of media ownership laws? Creation of mass media is an expensive business and mostly falls to those with existing resources.
