You know what? you're absolutely right. Just because the planet is at point blank range from its sun, constantly being bombarded with radiation and solar flares is no reason to suggest that life isn't guaranteed to be there. It's a silly thing to say. Just because the temperature of the planet is ridiculous at the surface, and likely to be even hotter further in (using that cute little pressure/temperature/volume relationship you quoted), is also no reason to suspect that life on the planet is anything other than guaranteed. Who cares that complex amino acid and proteins chains unravel and degenerate at anything much over 40 degrees, that's all largely irrelevant right? In fact, I can now see that in any circumstance where one detects water molecules as being present, the only logical conclusion is that life must also present. Steam engine? guaranteed bacteria factory. Icy comet? chock full of alien invaders. And those poor fools using superheated steam and intense radiation to sterilse medical instruments! no wonder so many people die of secondary infections these days - they're literally infecting people on purpose. You fool doctors - why don't you understand basic science like Strawman??!!!! And certainly anything a mere astronomer would have to say on the subject of extraterrestrial life is a waste of oxygen - I mean scouring the heavens for planets which might be capable of harbouring life is totally outside their field isn't it? And as we all know, scientists can only ever have a clue about one ifintesimally small field of study. Meaningful conclusions on anything outside said field should be left to wise webmasters who are inherent experts at everything. Thank you for allowing me to see the light mighty Strawman. I guess I'd better go back to all my university lecturers and tell them all that crap they taught me about bio-chemistry and molecular biology was a load of bullshit. Maybe tell off my high-school physics teachers while I'm at it. Wouldn't want anymore wide-eyed intellectual elites coming out and trying to poke holes in your otherwise infallable logic. Instead, we should all be so convinced by your flawless argument, that we should put every available resource into making contact with the advanced alien species we know for a fact is living out there. Maybe they'll be able give some ideas on what to do with self-absorbed ideologues who can't admit it when they're wrong.
