And from the average wheat-farmer's point of view, the AWB did what was necessary to sell their wheat. That makes them .. maybe not good blokes .. but the kind that you keep employing. Or voting for in the next election. No doubt you are correct Peter, for there have be many letters in the press from rural Australia supporting the AWB and/or at least attacking Labor for its investigations. But this is hardly news; the bushies have been ensuring that governments subsidise them or protect their corrupt practices for eons now. What was Black Jack McEwen about if not privatising farmers' profits and socialising their losses', at the expense of consumers (and efficient farmers), notwitstanding the dour self-righteousness of the farmers. That the Government is up to its neck in the AWB scandal is becoming increasingly clear. And remember what that means - funding the enemy! That wheat farmers support them in this is just more of the same. They were crooks then, and they still are now.
