>> >> particularly as I don't usually describe myself as a 'libertarian'. >> then what are you doing on libertarian.org.au - hosted by the Australian _Libertarian_ Society? I was asked. If I were to be asked to leave, I would do so too. Let me suggest that anyone who describes themselves as a libertarian is
either lying or stupid. People who cling to an -ism or an -ist are unable to think for themselves.
They are clinging to an ideal which is ultimately going to be defined by other
people, and leave themselves open to
- I am a better communist than you because I am poorer.
- I am a better Australian than you because I support John Howard more.
- I am a better Islamicist than you because I hate infidels more.
- I am a better libertarian than you because I believe in open borders.
Isn't the point of libertarianism being a free-thinking individual?
Doesn't that mean that you will choose what you believe independently
of the collectivist mass of 'libertarianism'? Personally I think the true libertarians are the ones who don't use the
term to describe themselves. I never objected to others using the term to describe me - just that I
(generally) didn't use it to describe myself. Go figure that paradox :-) You may find www.statist.org.au is still available? So is liedownandletthemrapeyou.com, but I'll give it a miss. Strawman.
