I like the libertarian position on guns in theory, but seeing what happenned in New Orleans, and what happens often in US cities just on a day-to-day basis, gives one cause for reflection. Of course, given that the crooks already have guns, it makes sense to allow law-abiding people to arm themselves too, for defensive/detterrent reasons. But surely Australia's system is superior overall?
