"Some people think that immigrants have an obligation to culturally assimilate with their chosen nation, others think they don't." While I think resistance to learning the native language and the attempts at changing the alphabet are stupidities, I think you are missing something here. Culture is not static or homogenous. It is the sum (quadratic equation?) of all parts, which includes past and present immigrants. Trying to change it by force (like decreeing Turkish a second language in schools) is wrong, as are racial quotas in those schools. But suggesting there is any obligation to "assimilate" (which means what, exactly?) is also wrong. We are not Borg.
